The yellowing resistance of Polyamide 6 fibres modified with acetic anhydride in both aqueous and non-aqueous media vis. dimethylformamide and dimethylsulfoxide was investigated. The modification resulted in a pronounced improvement in yellowing resistance. A decrease in dyeability of the pretreated fibre with both acid and disperse dyestuffs was noticed.Changes in shrinkage, weight, and crystallinity of the modified fibres were also noticed.
