Garment exporters in Jordan continued to win market share from other nations in the first six months of this year as clothing exports soared to $183 million from $109m in the year-ago period.

Figures released by trade chiefs on Wednesday showed apparel exports accounted for almost a fifth of the country’s total exports in the first half.

Officials said this is mainly due to recent heavy investment in industrial zones that qualify for duty-free access to the US.
