US-based clothing retailer, Men’s Wearhouse, on Friday said that consolidated sales for the four, 13 and 39 week periods ended November 3, were $91.5 million, $285.6m and $887.4m, respectively.
The four and 13 week sales reflect decreases of 11.3 per cent and 6.1 per cent, respectively, while the year to date results were flat compared to prior year same period sales.
Comparable US store sales for the four weeks ended November 3, fell 16.1 per cent versus a 5.9 per cent increase for the comparable prior year period. Third quarter 2001 comparable store sales decreased 14.4 per cent compared with an increase of five per cent for the same quarter 2000.
Year to date 2001 comparable store sales decreased 8.2 per cent compared with an increase of 5.5 per cent for year to date 2000.
The company’s comparable Canadian (Moores Clothing for Men) store sales for the four weeks ended November 4, dropped 3.5 per cent versus a 7.3 per cent decrease for the comparable prior year period.
Third quarter comparable store sales fell 1.9 per cent compared with an increase of 1.9 per cent for the same quarter 2000, while year to date comparable store sales increased 5.2 per cent compared with an increase of 7.2 per cent for the year to date 2000.
