“According to CCL, this growth rate represents a
significant improvement compared to the global exports’ contraction of
2.5 percent in the same period”.In view of the slow recovery of
global economy, Peruvian apparel and textile companies found a good
niche market in Latin America ..Latin America represents an
important market for Peru’s small and medium sized companies, as it
comprises 20 percent of the country’s total exports ..This analysis
does not include Venezuela, due to the problems related to the issuing
of certificates, which allow exporters to trade their products in that
country ..Between September 2009 and August 2010, apparel and
textile global exports increased by an average of one percent per month,
below non traditional-exports, which grew by an average of 2.3 percent
in the same period ..The CCL says this indicates the sector has started a period of slow but sustainable, recovery .
