Indian authorities suspended the shipment to Pakistan following imposition of a ban on cotton export, said Mirza Ikhtiar Baig, Federal Adviser on Textiles in a statement…On the directives of the adviser, the minister of Trade High Commission for Pakistan, New Delhi, has taken up the matter with the SAARC joint secretary, Ministry of Commerce, New Delhi…The Mumbai textile commissioner was requested to expedite the process of revalidation of the contracts to resume export at the earliest, the statement said…The statement further said that it was also requested to allow shipment of all cotton export orders to Pakistan pending with the Indian authorities, which was contracted prior to the suspension of the cotton export…Baig said that it was imperative to have this cotton in the country before the new cotton crop arrival, which would be available in the market by July or August”
