Foreign companies are being called on to lend their support to a new centre supplying garment and footwear materials and accessories to manufacturers in Ho Chi Minh City.
According to Tran Duc Thinh, general secretary of Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association (VITAS), participants already include Garment and Textile Trading, Saigon Trading Corp, Saigon Co-op, Vietnam Textile and Apparel Association, Nhat Nam Textile and Fashion, Thai Binh Leather Shoe, Hoang Hoa Nam Textile and CP Hong Kong.
But he also wants foreign businesses to increase their investment in garment and footwear material production projects from the current level of 30-40 per cent.
