“The expansion project, which was inaugurated by Prime Minister, Driss Jettou, will enable the firm to up its production capacity to 24 million meters per annum by the year 2008 .The project is built on an area of 19ha, including a covered 5.2ha for an investment of MAD 1.1Bn (USD 121Mn). In 2005, Settavex, subsidiary of the Tavex multinational created in 1990, totalled a turnover of USD 68.15Mn . “Speaking to the press, Premier Jettou said the textile sector, which faced a crisis at the beginning of 2005, has managed during the past months to overcome several obstacles, which enabled it to make very positive results especially in terms of exports . “This kind of large-scale investments carried out by multinationals is a good stimulator of the textile industry, and would encourage its integration in the national economic fabric, he said . “For the Minister of Industry, Commerce and Economy Upgrading, Salaheddine Mezouar, the achievements of the textiles sector are the outcome of strategy based on production diversification, and on the endorsement of a quality approach founded mainly on the training of specialized labor force . “For his part, president of the Tavec group, Enrique Garran, underlined that these achievements have encouraged the firm to expand its activities, and set up new project that would increase the productivity without undermining quality . “The inauguration ceremony was also attended by Spain’s ambassador in Rabat, Luis Planas .Source : Maghreb Arabe Press .
