Denim producer Hellenic Fabrics said on Monday first half pretax profit rose 33 per cent to 852 million drachmas ($2.28 million) from 642 million in the same period a year earlier. First half sales rose 28 per cent to 15.3 billion drachmas, the company said in a statement. Pretax profit for 2001 is seen growing 32 per cent to 1.65 billion drachmas on expected sales of 26.5 billion drachmas, up 18 per cent from 2000, it said. Hellenic Fabric shares were losing 2.65 per cent at 7.38 euros mid session on Monday.
