A top textile trade delegation from Pakistan will jet out to Canada next week for high-level talks in a bid to obtain Least Developed Country (LDC) status for textile exports from the Canadian government.

The move comes after Canada granted textile and garment rival Bangladesh LDC status which gives its clothing companies lucrative duty-free access to the vast Canadian market.

Pakistan’s delegation will feature leading export and industry chiefs and aims to show officials in Ottawa that Bangladesh did not deserve LDC status as its textile industry is well developed.
