Textile giant DuPont has been inducted today into the American Textile Hall of Fame at the American Textile History Museum for its “outstanding contribution and commitment to the textile industry”.
The firm was rewarded for “delivering comfort, safety, efficiency and convenience to the textile industry” through its pioneering development of fibres such as nylon, spandex, polyester, acrylic, advanced non-wovens and aramids.
Its name will now be featured at the Massachusetts-based museum alongside those of other industry pioneers such as ex-Mayfair Mills chairman Frederick Dent, and James Spencer Love who founded Burlington Industries.
The firm’s textile unit, DuPont Textiles & Interiors is the largest integrated textile fibre and interiors company in the world, with approximate annual revenue of $6.5 billion, operating in 50 countries.
“It is an honour to receive such a noteworthy award and is a great testament to the many ways DuPont has transformed the textile industry,” said Steve McCracken, group vice president of DuPont Textiles & Interiors.
