The Vietnam Textile and Garment Association and the Saigon Center Corporation are teaming up to build a textile and garment showroom that will open in Ho Chi Minh City at the end of this year.
This latest initiative forms part of a programme organised by the City to help local garment makers improve their competitiveness and boost exports. Already announced is a VND3.6 billion ($237,000) project to upgrade 10,000 sewing, embroidering, knitting and dyeing machines by the end of this month.

Vice chairman of the People’s Committee, Huynh Thi Nhan, said garment and textile production accounted for 11.8 per cent of the city’s industrial production in the first half of this year.
