Indian knitwear exporters today called on the government to ask the EU to give the country’s textile exporters the same package of preferential trade benefits as Pakistan and Bangladesh.
During a meeting with officials in New Delhi, industry chiefs warned domestic producers were being undercut by the two rivals who both enjoy duty free status.
Tirupur Exporters’ Association president, A Shaktivel, also asked the government to extend drawback to between 17 and 24 per cent, as in Pakistan and Bangladesh, the Asia Pulse newspaper reported.
