Two Major Problems on Knitted Fabric Technology: Dye Spots and Shrinkage

(11/11/2002 20:00)

Dye Spots

All textile fibers and especially synthetic fiber are treated at some stage in their processing with lubricants and finishing agent. At our plant and other dye houses suffer from white spots in dyed fabric using “ Eco – Soft “ dyeing machines high temps and normal machines.
So many tests were made by us & Thies GmbH. Liquor. Circulation and contact time (C).
C = (1/min.) LF = liq. flow
LR = liq. Ratio
As we go down with LR. Increase contact cycle per min.
Next step to add (filling machine) after caustification with cold water. We found out that wax solidification which will not dissolve with less than 110 C which inhibit dyeing through this areas which increaser waste percnt.
That for all dyes.
The only care about installing machines without looking for piping after that, so we have suspended fatty materials we need:
1- Very fast drain. I recommend + ve drain pumps.
2- First filling after caustificantion to be 50 – 60 C water.
Most of machine suppliers don’t do that as it increases cost. Waste percentage down to only 2% instead of 7 – 10% because of this problem.

Shrinkage Reduction
High level of shrinkage in fabrics and garments remain an enigma to many people. No actual technical & to find remedy for shrinkage problem. All these results we got & found out how to get over this serios problem.
We studied Loop direction from our knitting dep.tell Dye hous. We achieved good reduction. Results as attached chartes around 3000 test.
On the other hand, stability of width which means low fabric consumptions.
Extra waste (Y%)
Length of the Lay in cutting m (L)
No. of Layers(n)
Gram/sq.m (GSM)
Width of fabric m (W)

Y = n*L*GSM/1000*W
2% of fabric (e.g 2 cm wider fabric.)
